Curtis Packaging promotes Giusto to senior VP of manufacturing
Curtis Packaging, one of the nation's leading packaging design and printing companies, has promoted John Giusto to senior vice president of manufacturing. Giusto had spent more than 40 years in the packaging industry before joining Curtis in April 2004 and had served as vice president of manufacturing at Inland Consumer Packaging for 11 years. Giusto has been vice president of manufacturing at Curtis for the past three years. In his new position, he will oversee all of the company's manufacturing groups, statistical control programs, and quality control matters.
J-M Manufacturing announces completion of merger with PW Eagle
Leading plastic pipe manufacturing company J-M Manufacturing Company, Inc., has announced the completion of its merger with PW Eagle Incorporated. PW Eagle is now a wholly owned subsidiary of J-M Manufacturing. The new company will be known as JM Eagle and will be the world's biggest plastic pipe manufacturer, with 2,300 employees and 25 manufacturing plants in North America. The united resources of these two industry leaders promise to enhance a new level of research and development and promote the launch of new products, applications, and processes. JM Eagle manufactures high-grade polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes.
Polyglass opens new manufacturing plant in Winter Haven
Polyglass USA, a manufacturer of modified bitumen roofing products, recently opened a manufacturing plant in Winter Haven, FL. The new facility is the first modified bitumen manufacturing plant in Florida. The plant is computer-automated and will produce Polyglass, its self-adhesive membranes, and underlayments utilizing ADESO technology. The plant will be part of the company's nine-acre campus in Winter Haven and reflects an effort by Polyglass to meet increasing demand in the Florida market.
Tobacco company brings 199 jobs to Mayodan, NC
General Tobacco, the nation's sixth-largest tobacco company, will set up a new manufacturing plant in Mayodan, NC, creating 199 jobs. Jobs at the plant will pay an average of $750 per week and offer benefits. The company will also invest as much as $50 million in business in the coming years and will replace a plant in Colombia, South America. Miami-based General Tobacco distributes Bronco, Vaquero Little Cigars, GT One, and Silver cigarettes as well as 32 Degrees menthol cigarettes.
