Abraxis BioScience, Inc., a global biopharmaceutical company, has announced the acquisition of a sterile injectable manufacturing facility. The company has acquired this facility in Phoenix, AZ, from Watson Pharmaceuticals, Inc. The new facility is equipped to manufacture lyophilized powders, suspension products, and aqueous and oil solutions. The unit will be spread across 200,000 square feet and, apart from manufacturing facilities, will also include chemistry and microbiology laboratories. Abraxis BioScience, Inc. develops, manufactures, and markets injectable products and is dedicated to meeting the needs of critical patients.
National Steel Car to build Freight Rail Car facility in Northwestern Alabama
National Industries Inc., a leading North American railcar manufacturer, has announced that National Alabama Corp., its newly formed subsidiary, will build a new manufacturing unit in northwest Alabama. The construction of the manufacturing facility will start in the next few months with operations expected to begin in early 2009. The new unit, made with an investment estimated around $350 million, will provide employment to 1800 workers. The manufacturing capacity of the unit is expected to be 8,000 to 10,000 units annually. National Steel Car Limited (NSC), another subsidiary of National Industries Inc., produces 15,000 freight railroad cars annually and is at present the largest site manufacturing freight railway cars in North America.
