New manufacturing unit in Osage to process products from oilseeds, grains
NFI Iowa will open a manufacturing plant in Mitchell County, IA, and create eight positions. The new facility in Osage will process oilseeds and grains for the food and cosmetic industries. NFI Iowa is a collaboration between nutr-e Food Innovation of Collierville, TN, and Northern Iowa Grain Processing of Riceville and has several locations in various Iowa cities. Construction of the 6,500-square-foot plant will start in August, and the company expects to begin production by October.
Michelin opens manufacturing plant in Mexico
Greenville, SC-based Michelin North America (MNA) has opened a new manufacturing facility in Mexico. The $40 million plant located near MNA's headquarters and passenger-tire plant in Querétaro will work to meet the growing demand for treads generated by the 16 Michelin Retread Technologies (MRT) plants in Mexico. The new facility will also support MRT plants in the U.S. and Canada. With a growing demand for Michelin products, the retread market in Mexico is the seventh largest in the world.
ExxonMobil Chemical to build manufacturing plant in Florida
ExxonMobil Chemical plans to build a new facility in Pensacola, FL, that will specialize in manufacturing elastomers and nylon. The plant, which is expected to start operations by early 2008, will manufacture Exxpro, an Exxon elastomer specially designed to improve the quality of the inner liners of automobile tires, making them lighter and more durable. ExxonMobil Chemical's product works by reducing air permeability, and the company expects to commercialize the technology in late 2007. Houston, TX-based ExxonMobil expanded its Baytown, TX, plant in 2006 to increase its production capacity for Exxpro elastomers.
