The General Production Manager position is responsible for effectively directing, controlling, and coordinating all aspects of plant production in order to maximize the long-term and short-term profitability of the company. This requires positive collaboration with Team Members to develop good working relationships and high morale.
Specific responsibilities of the position will include the following items:
Leading production team to create a work environment which reflects a commitment to employee safety, product quality, food safety, and positive employee relations.
Work cross-functionally within the plant to meet production quality, yields goals, and metrics goals while ensuring the maintenance of labor standards and quality of performance and product.
Responsible for compliance with all quality and food safety requirements to protect customers, consumers, and Tyson Foods -including all state and federal regulations.
Provide for the compliance and coordination of FDA and OSHA requirements.
Utilize Lean and Continuous Improvement techniques to manage cost, drive efficiency and solve problems.
Other responsibilities include developing and training Team Members, holding daily performance meetings, weekly safety meetings and group discussions, and troubleshooting areas that might cause problems with production. Additional duties include computing quarterly figures and their relationship to objectives, handling Team Member grievances, and performing other responsibilities as the need arises.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manage subordinate supervisors who supervise team members in the plant.
Plan, assign and direct work.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Interview, hire and train Team Members.
Monitor and appraise Team Member work performance.
Reward, coach, counsel and discipline team members.
Address complaints and resolve problems.
Position Requirements :
Education : Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience : 5 years' related experience in manufacturing. Food manufacturing experience highly preferred. This position requires an essential understanding and control of the production process, maintenance, shipping/receiving, sanitation, quality assurance, accounting, safety, and material management and is responsible for entire plant operation in the absence of the Plant Manager.
Computer Skills :
Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
SAP experience is preferred.
Communication Skills :
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all levels of Team Members within the plant and the Corporate Office.
Must be capable of communicating well both verbally and in writing with government officials.
Special Skills : Display sound judgment and decision-making, leadership, and organizational skills. Flexibility to work off hours on a routine basis to provide guidance and training to a three shift 6/7 day operation.
