Job Description:

What is the role?

Commercial Operations is currently seeking a Scheduler to join our Commercial Operations Crude Team. This team is responsible for managing the physical delivery of Shell’s domestic and international movements for crude. The team of schedulers work within the Crude Oil North America Trading Teams (e.g. Off-shore and On-shore), to optimize overall profitability through its commercial acumen and expertise in blending and operations. In delivering its value to the Shell organization, the team engages with the many internal and external customers in the crude supply chain.

The team is responsible for managing the logistics (truck, rail, pipeline, marine, and terminals) of all bulk and offshore lease crude movements to/from market hubs. The Scheduler is expected to “own the molecule” and understand the operations and commercial implications of their desk.

Shell seeks to attract a scheduler with strong operational, analytical, and commercial skills. For this role in particular, we are looking for an individual with marine expertise and knowledge that can help grow Shell’s waterborne capabilities. In addition to marine experience, we are seeking a scheduler who can demonstrate teamwork, resilience and ability to collaborate well with other team members, groups and businesses. This is a complex and dynamic part of the trading business and, as such, this is a high profile and demanding role suitable for a highly motivated candidate.

What we need from you

Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

Bachelor’s degree, MBA preferred

Minimum five (5 ) years of work experience within an Oil and Gas, Midstream or Trading Organization.

Expertise in marine operations including the following activities:

Managing FOB, CIF and DES movements

Hydrocarbon import and exports

Ship to Ship Operations

Floating storage operations

Demurrage

Loss Control

Regulatory Compliance (Including Jones Act and customs filings)

Ability to train team members on marine operations

Possess knowledge in crude measurement / API standards, HSSE and crude operations.

Awareness of terminal and pipeline operations

Advanced Excel. (Macros/Solver/Database Management)

Knowledge of Endur, Qlikview and Salesforce.com a plus.

Strong technical, numeracy, analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills to recognize and solve problems quickly.

Proven ability to operate and effectively communicate under extreme pressure to deliver under tight deadlines and make quick decisions.

Team player and high inter-personal skills capable of developing and maintaining strong internal, external and virtual relationships

Additional Expectations:

Perform the daily task of quantifying and analyzing discrepancies between the plan, schedules and actual performance. Analyze and communicate results to the responsible parties to take necessary corrective actions. Escalate issues when need be.

Lead or support the month end process for reporting production volumes and inventories in systems and for group to reconcile gaps.

Responsible for providing 24-hr on-call support for area of responsibility including weekends and holidays.

Provide backup coverage for other schedulers.
