SUMMARY: This position will work collaboratively in a cross-discipline technical team of engineers, programmers, designers, and technicians in the development and implementation of control systems for all Tyson facilities. The candidate will be skilled in manufacturing automation design, integration, troubleshooting, engineering, programming, and consulting. The candidate will have exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and in team environments. They will be proactive, resourceful & highly motivated with good communication skills and ability to work in a high output environment.REQUIREMENTS:Education: A Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent experience.
Experience: At least 6 years of control engineering experience with the ability to program PLCs, HMIs and SCADA control systems. The candidate should have a background in reading electrical control schematics, developing sequence of operations and converting into automation code. The candidate should be capable of making advanced enhancements, troubleshooting and testing for existing applications.Computer Skills: Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft Office, Visio, AutoCad. PLC and HMI Languages: Proficient in one or more languages including Modicon Unity, Allen-Bradley Studio 5000, or Inductive Automation Ignition. Microsoft SQL Server database experience a plus.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Travel: 10 – 20 trips per year. Engineer should be willing to travel to job site for start-up of control systems.Supervisory Responsibilities: A Lead Controls Engineer may direct other team members on project deliverables.Special Skills: A Lead Controls Engineer should have excellent programming and design skills in PLC, HMI, and SCADA control systems; above average mentoring and leadership skills; and an intermediate knowledge in the ANSI/ISA standards. The successful candidate should be able to accomplish systems analysis tasks across the Tyson enterprise; have advanced knowledge of control systems design; be able to complete complex coding requirements within project time constraints; and be willing to support installed control systems for emergency purposes outside of normal business hours.
6 years SCADA programming experience, preferably Inductive Automation – Ignition. Experience with interfacing to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), various Cloud and IIoT platforms a plus.
3 years database management experience, preferably MS SQL Server.
6 year of PLC / HMI programming experience – preferably Rockwell / Allen-Bradley
8 year of manufacturing experience.
Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) operations, wiring, and configuration. Allen-Bradley PowerFlex experience preferred.
Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) operations, wiring, and programming. Allen-Bradley Logix platform preferred.
Experience with Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) operations, wiring, and programming. Rockwell PanelView Plus / FactoryTalk View platform preferred.
Experience with installation and implementation of process controls networks such as Ethernet/IP.
Experience with Rockwell/AB motion control hardware and software
Robotic experience with Fanuc and ABB systems a plus.
Familiarity with ISO 13849 Safety Standard
Familiarity with NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety Requirements in the Workplace.
Understanding of electrical control design principles.
Ability to direct electrical contractors on the job site
Food processing knowledge and control experience a plus
