Idaho National Laboratory’s (INL) Advanced Test Reactor (ATR) FIN Engineering group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as a Plant/System Engineer.

Our team works an on-site 4x10 schedule located at our ATR facility with every Friday off!

Responsibilities Include:

Perform or lead nuclear Project and Design engineering work and Mechanical Engineering support for the ATR.

Select and widely apply nuclear systems engineering theories, principles, methods, concepts and technologies to support safe and reliable operation of the ATR.

Perform or direct monitoring and evaluation of the operational conditions of nuclear mechanical systems to establish a high level of functional reliability and efficiency.

Coordinate the development of and/or prepare and approve imaginative, thorough engineering solutions for the correction of general components material deficiencies.

Advance and refine engineering expertise of pertinent code requirements.

Identify and approve nuclear system/component modification, replacement or refurbishment where deemed appropriate.

Research, prepare, and approve procurement specifications for nuclear component maintenance and repair activities.

Prepare, direct and/or supervise efforts to support identification of source issues related to material/functional issues and declining performance trends.

Lead failure analysis of ATR systems as required.

Lead development of engineering documents for nuclear systems/components, including formal technical evaluations, temporary system modifications, engineering jobs, technical specifications, engineering calculation and analysis reports, subcontractor statement of work, electronic change requests, operational evaluations, issue management records, and non-compliance reports.

Evaluate and approve suppliers, vendors and subcontractors for required capabilities, qualifications and certifications required to support on-site fabrication, installation, and modifications of nuclear and non-nuclear support systems.

Collaborate with INL Subcontractor Field Representatives in the oversight and management of subcontracted nuclear project work performed at the ATR Complex.

Develop required Davis Bacon Case Records, Environmental checklist, and formal Statements of Work to support initiation of subcontracted work for project work.

Review and approve subcontractor work requests and closely work with subcontractor administrators to efficiently award and complete subcontracted projects, system upgrades and design changes.

Initiate and approve wide variety of engineering documents from subcontract engineering firms.

Lead the mentoring and training of junior engineering personnel to promote continued development of skills and working knowledge of technical requirements, nuclear construction codes and other required engineering knowledge and skills.

Act as the primary point of contact for nuclear engineering projects directly in support of the Naval Nuclear Program or DOE.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science field and 5-8 years or an advanced degree and 3-6 years of relevant experience.

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy L clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

Salary Grade: PR0300 - 220 ($107,520 - $177,336) / PR0400 - 230 ($121,212 - $206,232)
