Job Details:
Boiler Operator –
Shift- Sunday-Wednesday or Thursday-Sunday (every Sunday is required)
12 hour shift – 8pm -8am
Functions
Ÿ To maintain and promote the Tyson safety culture
Ÿ Receive training as required
Ÿ Perform various positions as required/assigned
Description
Must be able to use basic hand tools. Requires: basic mechanical or maintenance skills, knowledge in areas of , hydraulics, basic electricity, power transmission, pneumatics & plumbing, 1 year or more experience in boiler operation and industrial maintenance, able to read & understand assignments, able to communicate orally & in writing, able to hear/respond to two-way radio, able to lift 50 pounds, climb stairs and ladders up to 60 feet, able to stand for long periods of time, withstand extreme hot, cold, inclement weather & odors, basic knowledge of math, able to use various electrical & pneumatic power tools & equipment. Monitor boiler and perform chemical test on boiler. May be required to read drawings & schematics of hydraulic & basic electrical systems. Must be certified to operate various pieces of gas/hydraulic motors/lifts. Performs duties such as removing, replacement of motors, motor shafts, couplings, pumps, augers, water & steam pipes, lines, & systems. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Must be able to pass boiler certification. Any applicant meeting minimum requirements may be contacted for an interview.
Tasks
Operate, repair, maintain, and adjust boilers, turbines, pumps, compressors, water lines, steam lines, valves, and all related systems and equipment. Perform frequent inspection checks and regular maintenance on boiler systems and related valves, gauges, piping, and other equipment. Constantly inspect water, gas, and other fluid levels inside boilers and related equipment, making adjustments to fluids as necessary to keep systems operating at peak levels. Record daily gas readings, feed water tests, and other test results. Adjust valves and boiler controls as needed to control the amount of pressure in the system and keep the boiler system functioning safely. Keep all boiler rooms, related facilities, and work areas clean and organized at all times.
Requirements
Applicants who have worked for Tyson three times will not be considered.
Must have at least 1 year maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
You must have 6 months of work history with one employer within the past 12 months.
Must have good verbal and written communication skills
Must have good oral communication skills to discuss issues with the Maintenance Supervisor
Must be able to understand information contained in Maintenance manuals.
