What's the role?
As the Packaging Manager, you will be part of an exciting team collaborating with Marketing, Sales, LSC, C&P, global packaging, and other key functions to develop and execute a packaging-specific innovation funnel that meets the evolving needs of customers, consumers, the market and roadmap ambitions. This role is critical to delivering Lubricant’s sustainability strategy to develop leadership positions in lower carbon, waste reduction and management, and more circular/renewable tomorrow.
Purpose and Accountabilities:
Lead the development and execution of the packaging innovation strategy, ensuring it represents customer-centric thinking, builds on packaging strategic innovation pillars and is done in a profitable way
Identify packaging and lubricant solutions that meet customers’ changing needs, is compelling and contributes to Lubricant’s ‘less pack strategy’
Develop a strong understanding of customers supply chain and replenishment groups to promote improved circularity of packaging
Implementation of new operating models and processes including supporting used packaging collection that enables the application of Circular Economy
Gather external insights, understand packaging related legislation and demand for sustainable packaging solutions
Proactively engage with the business through all phases of project development and implementation to deliver the package innovation strategy and the business objectives with a pipeline of packaging opportunities. This will involve maintaining a close working relationship with the Retail Lubricants channel e.g. Walmart, AutoZone among others, Lube Supply Chain stakeholders, integrating Product Lifecyle Management, Integrated Business Value into daily business practice.
Lead and drive packaging project end-to-end and proactively communicate and highlight critical issues and risks to relevant stakeholders/parties.
Help identify the right cross-functional resources that need to be engaged at each phase of the project delivery , identify solutions to non-obvious considerations to operationalize, navigate complex web of stakeholders and various disciplines.
Business case development to include estimation of project costs, margins, timing, and resource requirements in relation to agreed terms of reference. Subsequently monitor costs, timescales and resources needed/used, and act where these deviate from plan.
Coach and prepare requesters to present ideas for Portfolio Decision Review Board consideration/approvals when needed
What we need from you?
A legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
At least five (5) years’ experience in marketing, sales or relevant line of business
Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business, Finance, Engineering, or similar fields or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
Demonstrate leadership, passion, and the ability to challenge the status quo and promote an enterprise-first mentality to manage channel conflict across a wide array of competing customers.
Strong leadership skills with ability to keep project teams motivated and pulling in the same directions when priorities and opinions may vary, and stakes are high
Customer-back thinking, commercial mind-set to include pitching ideas to customer and stakeholders
Progressive thinker who tackles problems from multiple angles to get to “yes”
Ability to navigate through complexity quickly, articulate challenges, and help identify solutions
External Mindset. Embrace risk-taking and be bold and fearless in constantly testing, learning from failures, and quickly trying again
Some technical understanding of packaging specifications recommended to determine business requirements
Solid project management skills, preferably with a good understanding of Lubricants Marketing, Sales, and Supply Chain processes
