Wastewater Treatment Operator – Full Time – N. Richland Hills, TX 76180
This position starts at $17.95/hr. with a .60 shift increase for third shift and potential for overtime.

The essential function of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I is to process waste water, operating, repairing and monitoring the equipment to do so.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Remove solids from waste water, operate grease and oil removal equipment, monitor chemicals and equipment used to cleanse water, monitor effluent discharge to assure compliance with regulatory permits, maintain log of waste water discharges, maintain inventory of supplies and usage, use chemicals to clean and to eliminate odors, render salable oil, load trucks, operate filter press to remove sludge, read gauges, place suspended solids into barrels; inform maintenance purchasing agent of amount of solid to be sold; clean area with cleaning chemicals, monitors equipment, motors, DAF unit and pumps; requests maintenance repairs, as needed; wears appropriate personal protective equipment; maintains good working relationships with others; may perform other various duties on a routine or non-routine basis at the discretion of his/her supervisor or other members of management. Keep yard all around building clean, which includes trash on the ground, blood in the trailer parking lot, and keep all sump pump basins clean of all debris. Keep areas around all trash compactors clean, including the area under the Pizza Grind trash compactor area. Keep Star Telegram swept and clean. Unload trucks as requested by the Supervisor. Keep Wastewater organized and clean.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to perform simple writing, the ability to read, understand and follow written and oral instructions; mathematical skill to perform calculations; ability to read and interpret fixed gauges and other measuring instruments and devices; ability to make decisions requiring the use of judgment; high school level course work in chemistry; trades knowledge and experience in repair of waste water treatment or similar equipment; sufficient physical capability to vertically move objects weighing up to 60 lbs. from 1 to 55 occasionally, up to 60 lbs. 1 to 65 frequently, horizontally move same from 10' to 75' without mechanical assistance, exert upper extremity forces of up to 60 lbs. frequently, exert grip forces of up to 40 lbs. frequently, climb steps at a rate of 50/hr., stand during entire shift, walk up to 4 miles during an 8 hour period, tolerate spaces 2' by 2', sufficient near, far and color vision to perform operations, tolerate heights up to 50', tolerate extremes of temperatures, both heat and cold; sufficient communication skill to convey information and interpersonal skill to maintain good working relationships; must have a record of safe work habits.
