Heavy Equipment Operator

Greybull - United States

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for extracting crude materials such as barite and bentonite from mines. He/She operates heavy and mobile equipment used in mining operations, monitors performance and performs maintenance and troubleshooting in the mine environment, as required.

Roles and Responsibilities:


Operate heavy equipment in stripping topsoil, overburden, ore and waste.
Prevent product non-conformity by ensuring proper blending and ore segregation.
Operate all equipment in a manner to keep unnecessary maintenance problems to a minimum.
Operate feed hoppers and front-end loader in an efficient manner. May include loading trucks.
Includes sorting, drying and stockpiling product, and reclamation.
Maintain crude ore stockpile areas and pad construction.
Complete Pre and Post-shift inspections, log loads, fuel equipment and road building and road maintenance.
Maintain a safe, clean, environmentally sound work area.
Ability to function under extreme weather conditions and focus for long periods of time under shift work conditions..
Operate mining production equipment in a safe, efficient and compliant manner. Report deviations to mine management.
Maintain a safe, clean, environmentally sound work area.
Communicate with coworkers and management.
Ensure equipment is maintained in optimal condition using preventative maintenance systems.
Participate in continuous improvement efforts


Qualifications and Experience:


High school or GED
Candidate must have equipment and manufacturing background.
At least one year of equipment operation experience.
Candidate must live in or around Greybull or willing to move to Greybull at their own expense
Candidate must be fluently reading, writing, speaking English and have a valid driver license.
Ability to operate heavy equipment.
Ability to segregate and recover product, read stakes and maintain slopes and drainages as indicated.
Rudimentary knowledge of geology, pad design, overburden characteristics and swell factors.
Candidates must be able to legally work and reside in US, without sponsorship.
Preferred qualifications:
Forklift operator experience
1 year relevant experience
Able to operate scrapers, dozers, excavators, loaders, farm tractors, rock trucks, motor graders
Able to drive forklift and crane
Basic computer skills, Excel, Power point
