Job Overview
The Assistant Feed Mill Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Production Manager with the daily operations of the Feed Mill by supervising the production employees, overseeing production, quality, costs and safety at the Mill.
Job Responsibilities
Determine work assignments, establish or adjust work procedures to meet plant or production schedules.
Oversee procedures to verify conformance to the highest standards of quality as established by current Good Manufacturing Practices for the industry.
Learn and understand the flow of all materials, incoming and out-going, and the standard operating procedures of all areas of the Feed Mill.
Must be able to operate all areas of the Feed Mill and completely understand automation systems.
Maintain production, quality, and cleaning logs as required for audit purposes.
Train new employees
Plan, assign and direct work
Appraise performance, address complaints and resolve problems in a timely manner.
Follow good HR practices.
Analyse production data and identify areas where efficiency can be improved.
Carry out stock-taking of raw materials, ordering as required.
Oversee and carry out month-end stock takes.
Review standard operating procedures and update as necessary.
Help in the planning/execution of production flow for the company's goods, data, and information.
Creation of purchase orders for various Mill requirements.
Have the ability to operate, monitor, and control production processes.
Timely and accurately document and follow up on any employee or operating issues.
Maintain collaborative working relationships with supervisors, work colleagues, internal and external customers.
Cover for work colleagues when required.
Promote safe work practices, lead by example.

Requirements
Ability to understand automation systems, including mechanical and or electrical experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to comprehend and communicate all routine reports and correspondence.
Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
The hours are from 8am - 5pm and may involve shift work 6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm.
