Job Description:

The Gas Plant Operator is a key role in our Shell operated QGC project based in Wandoan, Queensland.

In this position you will be responsible for safe and efficient operation of the field compression stations and central processing plant. You will provide frontline plant surveillance and serve as operational focal point for your assigned plant, reporting to the Gas Plant Supervisor.

The roster for this position is: 15 days on 13 days off, working 12 hours per day. As part of this role you may occasionally be required to work night shifts.

Some of the key deliverables and responsibilities of this role are:


Complete daily operator rounds and reads for the field compression stations and central processing plant
Report any safety, environmental, production or maintenance issues in the relevant registers
Perform routine operational tasks and frontline maintenance such as sampling, greasing and functional testing of safety equipment
Serve as focal point for your assigned plant, coordinating between operations, maintenance execution and the central control room
Issue work permits to maintenance crews on your assigned plant and facilitate ‘toolbox’ safety conversations

Requirements:

The candidate we are therefore seeking for this position, will have/be:


Certificate III in Gas Plant Operations or Process Operations
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in gas plant, refinery or petrochemical operation
Experience with operational registers, handovers/logbooks and reporting
Exceptional aptitude for risk assessments, identifying hazards and implementing controls
Experience with Permit to Work systems, preferably as Permit Issuer or Authoriser
Proficiency in Microsoft office applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook
Unrestricted Australian C-class driver’s license
Experience in SAP and Maximo is desirable
