JOB DESCRIPTION:

The position of MST-WWTO may be required to perform a variety of duties including, but not limited to, operation of wastewater analysis laboratory, operation and maintenance of wastewater collection system, operation and maintenance of wastewater pre-treatment system, operation and maintenance of wastewater full treatment system or operation and maintenance of any other type of water or wastewater treatment system. Activities may include, but are not limited to: collecting samples for analysis in accordance with EPA, state and/or health departments regulations, performing a variety of chemical analysis (both in and out of a laboratory setting), making system adjustments based on interpretation of results from chemical analysis, making educated decisions on maintaining regulatory compliance, performing mathematical calculations utilizing basic algebraic formulas and a calculator, completing computerized reports, compiling information and correctly completing monthly reports as required by permits, state authority, EPA or corporate management, utilization of basic organizational skills, basic mechanical skills, basic electrical wiring skills, proper communication of current operational status to upper management, maintaining operations logs, performing minor to major maintenance on equipment, operation of a spotter truck and/or a fork-lift, physically lifting of heavy objects (50- 75 pounds), climbing and/or descending stairs or ladders, grounds keeping, painting, general housekeeping, working in unsanitary conditions, working with hazardous chemicals, work other shifts as needed to cover vacations and scheduled time off.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION LEVELS In the MST-WWTO classification career, there are minimum qualification requirements that each employee must achieve. These minimum levels of achievement are necessary to assure that an employee possesses adequate skills and knowledge to be a productive operator. All employees classified as MST-WWTO must have a high school diploma (or equivalent) as stipulated by the regulating State in accordance with certification requirements, must obtain the lowest wastewater certification offered by the state in which the facility is located within twelve (12) months of hire date into MST-WWTO position or in accordance with State regulations. All employees classified as MST-WWTO will be required to obtain higher levels of certification and training to meet minimum qualifications, depending on facility grade as outlined under “RECOMMENDED FACILITY GRADE LEVEL”, and state regulations governing the facility. This will need to be addressed on a case-by-case basis. Any employee that fails to meet and maintain the minimum qualification levels as required by this policy or as required by state regulations will be disqualified as MST-WWTO and offered the opportunity to bid out, be reassigned or terminated.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent Experience: 1 years Wastewater experience (preferred) Computer Skills: Basic computer skills with knowledge in Word and Excel Communication Skills: Good interpersonal and communication skills are critical.
