to provide engineering services including quotation development, pre- and post-sales support, process audits, and process optimization, all while advancing KBC’s mission of being a forward-thinking, collaborative, and ethical business.
Duties/Responsibilities
Travels to provide engineering support for sales presentations, system audits, mill surveys, system start-ups, and trouble-shooting assignments.
Handles systems technology questions from Sales & Marketing personnel, as well as calls from customers.
Prepares process flow sheets containing complete material balancing and equipment identification.
Selects the proper equipment from technical manuals and from experience to implement process functions defined on flow sheets. When necessary, consults with other engineers when equipment selection is difficult or unusual.
Works with foreign divisions to balance and size equipment for their system proposals.
Writes and presents technical papers, informing the paper industry of KBC’s latest system technology.
Prepares additional content as required for proposals; organizes all proposal information and prepares proposals with clerical assistance as needed by others.
Maintains the Applications Engineering drawings and project files, along with maintaining the reference drawing files and TIB application manuals.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. ERP and AutoCAD experience preferred.

Education and Experience
This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, Pulp & Paper Science, or a related field from an accredited college or university. A basic knowledge of KBC equipment and systems technology, including process control, is desirable. Four years’ experience in process engineering is preferred.
Physical Requirements
Office environment subject to occasional lifting, bending, standing, and/or stooping. Must be capable of sitting at a desk for prolonged periods and working on a computer. When traveling, must be able to negotiate typical airport obstacles and be able to tolerate long flights. When visiting customers or manufacturing facilities, must be able to move around the facility, and negotiate obstacles (ramps and uneven floor surfaces) with exposure to a typical mill or manufacturing environment; i.e. extreme heat, cold, dust, noise, fumes and other elements. May occasionally lift up to 40 lbs. at customer sites. Must wear required personal protective equipment when visiting customers and other facilities.
Safety
Due to frequent visits at customer sites and mills, this position is safety sensitive. In order to ensure a safe work environment for our employees and our customers, all Kadant employees in safety sensitive positions will be subject to random drug testing.
Travel Required
Must be able to handle prolonged and frequent travel. Approx. 40 - 50%
