Job Description:
What is the role?
DP Vessel operators provide professional freight operations to the LATAM Crude Oil and Freight Trading desks. DP Vessel Operators work closely with Freight Traders/Oil Traders/Commercial Oil Operations & Commercial E&P ensuring that DP vessels are scheduled in compliance with Shell procedures, applicable government laws and industry guidelines to ensure a safe and economic operation. The work is varied and requires individuals develop a thorough understanding of the of the Shipping and Oil Trading business.
Ordering and monitoring of vessel movements for the DPST vessels in Santos, Rio de Janeiro and Uruguay, for off taking from multiple FPSO’s and ship to ship operations.
Responsibilities:
Optimize bunker procurement in terms of location/timing in line with Shell policy and guidelines and any localized regulatory compliance;
Agency appointments are made promptly in line with Shell’s policies & guidelines identifying recoverable costs;
Cargo surveyors appointed in line with Shell policies & guidelines in collaboration with Commercial Oil Operations & local Claims Analyst;
Update all ship information in relevant assurance and voyage systems.
Coordinate with finance resettlement/recoveries;
Co-ordinate with Shipping and DP Ship Owners regarding ship issues such as SIRE inspection, Petrobras trials to manage impact within overall DP fleet;
Support freight/oil strategy for utilization of DPST fleet;
Maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and third parties suppliers and customers;
Understand the potential commercial impact of cargo, demurrage & performance claims and ensure necessary actions taken to protect T&S position, whilst working with relevant depts;
All casualty procedures and HSSE standards for shipping are complied with including clearance of voyages through Shell assurance tool;
All financial instruments are in place prior to movement of cargoes;
Shipping/Oil documentation requirements in order for oil to be evacuated from FPSO’s both internally and to meet local regulation and protect license to operate;
Monitoring of weather at STS locations to mitigate delays and potential costs;
Nominations to Acu/Santos/Uruguay STS locations in collaboration with Commercial Oil Operator & relevant Trader;
Part of T&S Operations which globally manages the movement of over 7mbd Crude oil out of 4 key Crude Trading Hubs;
Currently operating 8 DP vessels;
Position reports to the Logistics Coordinator Brazil based in Shell Bahamas
Team consists of 3 DP Vessel Operators;
Irregular and out of hours working/calls will be required;
Supports margin creation for the LATAM and Freight Trading desks.
What we need from you
Must have legal authorization to work in the Brazil on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Associate degree is a must.
At least five (5) years work experience in a similar role within trading operations, shipping or maritime.
Advances English language skills is required.
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work with multiple parties and fluid information.
Able to link information from various sources and deliver feasible schedules/solutions in an ongoing manner;
Able to handle multitude of competing priorities, tight timelines and make decisions amidst ambiguity.
Ability to work without daily supervision.
High attention to detail with effective personal organization in order to meet critical deadlines.
Commercial mindset to ensure value created across the chain.
Understanding of ship characteristics and freight economics.
Knowledge of shipping regulations for operating within Brazil.
