Where you fit

As the Production Manager, you have the responsibility and accountability for ensuring safe, environmentally sound, and reliable 24/7 production of products at the Mobile Chemical Plant. you will manage, develop, and sustain best in class Health and Safety, product quality, reliability, cost, and margin optimization results. You will have an influential leadership role on site and must role model leadership behaviors and lead with a continuous improvement mindset. To be successful in this role, you must have clear understanding of AMS work processes intent and function. In this role, you will provide leadership and set direction for all operational aspects of the Refinery, including Operations and Oil Movements.

You will be a key member of the Mobile Site Leadership Team and contribute to development of vision, strategy and tactics for both the short-term and long-term performance of the site and Production. Youwill coach and develop the Production team to ensure work processes are robust, talent pipeline is robust and culture of care and engaged delivery is robust.

What’s the role?

Health and Safety


Displays visible field leadership of personal and process safety to safeguard the health and safety of all personnel, the environment and the integrity of the assets, looking for say-do gaps and develop causally reasoned plans to improve.
Executes and supports safety processes
Assures Production staff and Production Team applies Barrier Thinking to hazard recognition and mitigation development. Leads by example to ensure key process safety barriers are maintained.
Maintains compliance including HEMP barriers, compliance required maintenance, compliance required training for respective Production staff and operators, etc
Sponsors causal investigations into Personal Safety, Process Safety and Reliability incidents.
Assures activities for Personal Safety, Process safety and Reliability activities and work processes. Understands and works actions to address thematic trends vial Process Safety and Reliability steering team analysis.
Assures appropriate resources and activities protocols for on shift emergency response.
Approves of all MOCs and start-up PSSRs, Fitness for Service evaluations, and IPF Overrides
Ensures effective implementation of API 755 (fatigue management)


Leadership


Creates a collaborative culture – one where specialists and Production team leads work together to build capability in the organization and operators feel confident to contribute proactively. Provides Leadership Development of Production Team (Staff and operators)
Develops Production Strategic Plan consistent with the Mobile site vision and priorities
Participates as a key member of the site leadership team, but also must maintains important direct relationship with key members of the leadership team (Process Engineering Manager, Reliability/Control Systems Manager, Process Safety Manager, Maintenance, Projects, and Turnaround Supervisors and Team Leads) as this role also serves a Production Unit Manager function.
Leads Change - cultural, behavioral, and technical change, as the site continues on its leadership journey and achieving its vision
Acts as coach and mentor. Embeds Operational Excellence throughout the organization. Assures all levels in the Production organization are receiving proper development (leadership and technical), coaching and supervision.
Drives mastery and competence of Production personnel, striving to develop empowered shift teams that run the plant 24x7, with assistance in the off-hours, by exception
Performance manages and recognizes for Production personnel
Develops Production leadership and support leadership pipeline.


Core Work Processes


Implements and executes AMS strategies, standards and work processes to ensure the delivery of the expected business plan results. These include health and safety performance, reliability performance, product quality and quantity results, yields and margin, energy utilization (EII), and costs (fixed and variable). Drive continual improvement of performance in these areas.
Understands business plan targets, daily & long term. Accountable for delivery against those targets, and following up on performance when delivery falls short. Ensures that mitigations and plans are in place to close the gaps, and that shift teams are provided the necessary support and assistance from other parts of the organization when needed
Ensures effective and efficient execution of Production’s role in the Maintenance Execution process including identifying and prioritizing work, safely turning equipment over to maintenance, and safely commissioning to return to service.
Manages risk and opportunities to operating asset via active use of the Mitigate Threats and Opportunities (MTO) work process, scope development and prioritization of reactive maintenance, unit shutdowns, and T/A scope.
Facilitates the collaboration of unit operating premises for TAs with the TA Steering Team. Sponsors and resources Productions role in the preparation and execution of Best In Class turnarounds and tracks delivery.


Technical


Ensures delivery of business plan production targets and product qualities
Ensures through leadership of the Production Team (which includes all disciplines supporting Production) and staff that unit issues and threats are identified, communicated, investigated and results communicated to the front line, and that appropriate mitigation plans are developed to close the gaps to the business plan targets - throughputs, yield, product quality, energy, equipment preparation, equipment failures, reliability threats etc.
Assures Production input to Economics & Scheduling (E&S) Dept on unit capacities, limitations, outage durations & timelines, etc. for plan development.
Develops and supports unit strategies including identification and resolution of key threats through Mitigate Threats and Opportunities (MTO), capital plans, and turnaround strategies.
Serves as key leader or provides delegate to on Steering teams (TA, Process Safety, HSE, ME, People RST)

Requirements:

What we need from you


Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Minimum 15 years of experience in Manufacturing with significant exposure to refining or chemical operations, including technical, operations and/or maintenance assignments.
Demonstrable leadership capability exhibited during previous assignments.
Demonstrated effective leadership experience at the extended leadership team level and with a represented workforce: Leading a Community
Demonstrated strong health and safety focus, systems thinking skills, management systems skills, and effective communication skills.
Experience operating at site leadership team level including handling on and off-site emergency situations, and crisis response.
Lead or play major role in significant change management including implementation of organizational, and work process changes in a 24/7 environment.
Excellent communication skills and experience of external stakeholder relations.
Ability to represent the site management on a wide range of issues is the plant, local community and corporate center.
Ability to work effectively across businesses and functions upwards, laterally and downwards.
Knowledge and understanding of current M best practices and ways of working are highly desirable.
Knowledge and ability to coach compliance to the ESP work process.
