Job Description:

The successful candidate for the Natural Gas Scheduler/Commercial Operator will join the North America Gas Commercial Operations team responsible for the day-to-day operational management of Shell Energy Americas (SENA/SENAC) gas activities primarily in Canada. Working in an open trade floor, the Natural Gas Scheduler/Commercial Operator will provide scheduling and operations support to various business desks across North America.

The primary purpose is to carryout daily natural gas scheduling duties which includes but is not limited to the following accountabilities:


Coordinate the daily product movement and agency customers including equity gas production, purchases, sales, transportation, storage on Canadian pipelines via electronic bulletin boards while ensuring contract obligations and regulatory requirements are met.
Report physical pipeline positions to trading groups.
Optimization of transport and delivery requirements to monetize value for the trade desk through accurate and timely positions, nominations and internal system pathing.
Monitor and report pipeline operational information providing short term opportunities to trading due to pipeline constraints and operations.
Manage and balance pipeline and customer accounts.
Maintains a thorough understanding of all contractual, license and regulatory requirements.
Know and Understand the various balancing mechanisms in use across North America regarding imbalance tolerances and the financial cash out risks for shippers and traders.
Input operational information daily into the internal gas management system (Endur) for accurate P&L and a clean hand off at month end.
Develop and maintain trusted partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders.
Train and Provide back up support to other Commercial Operators within own team and across NA teams.
Perform monthly close activities on all pipelines and document top 10 pipelines to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
Work with limited supervision to troubleshoot, resolve problems.


Dimensions:


This position is for a Natural Gas Scheduling in the Canada Region. With the complexity of the business, there may be a high volume of trades, dealing with multiple traders, volumes, transportation, multiple locations, financial risk and exposure, commodity complexity, and regulatory requirements of transactions.
The successful candidate will need to maintain a sustained proactive approach to all accountabilities of the role to ensure Gas Operations are operated in an effective and efficient way, with emphasis on Operational and Commercial Excellence.
This position requires weekend and holiday work on a rotating basis as well as on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The workday will start between 6:00 and 7:00 am depending on business needs.

Requirements:


Must have legal authorization to work in Canada without sponsorship.
Bachelor’s degree in a business discipline preferred or equivalent years of industry related experience.
At least 2 years natural gas scheduling experience on several natural gas pipelines in key Canada markets.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements for Natural Gas Scheduling preferred.
Knowledge in data systems analysis; able to identify system errors, identify reason – VBA and SQL skills would be an asset.
Advanced Excel user with knowledge of formulas, look-ups, linking, pivot tables and macros.
Experienced user of IT systems and knowledgeable on IT landscapes.
Ability to analyse market information, communicate and act on trading implications, as well as adapt quickly to changing internal and external requirements.
Proven track record of performance, delivery, and coordination in a team setting.
Self-starter and ability to effectively multi-task without compromising attention to detail.
Ability to work under pressure, prioritize, and meet strict time sensitive deadlines.
Commercially adept with demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
Champions continuous improvements (CI) by proactively supporting the forward plan for maintaining and improving systems, tools, data and processes as well as sharing best practices.
