MANGEMENT BY OBJECTIVES:
Each year the Roll Form Technician will coordinate, with the Manufacturing Manager of Fabrication and the Roll Form department Supervisor and associates the specific results, improvements, or accomplishments required to support Knoll department and site objectives.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Establishes implements and supports roll form processes and equipment from concept development through manufacturing. Provides technical expertise and physically supports all areas of roll form and resolve roll form related manufacturing issues.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITES:
Troubleshoots, identifies, and implements systems and/or process needs and improvements.
Assures efficient work cell layout, process flow, work standards, using Engineering Drawings and Roll Tool principles to troubleshoot mill production or quality issues.
Works to eliminate downtime.
Identifies and eliminates sources of downtime and extraneous variation through root cause analysis and implementation of corrective measures with members of Manufacturing and Engineering Teams.
Perform routine maintenance to all roll forming equipment.
Develop a preventative maintenance program to ensure equipment is performing at its optimum output. Perform inventory of roll forming supplies and work to standardize components.
Perform routine roll form adjustments on all roll forming equipment.
Ensure the integrity of the product being manufactured. Perform routine checks on roll forming parameters and adjust if necessary to ensure roll form integrity is maintained. Set and adjust roll pressure as required. Champion a process that will signal when a part is being produced outside the established parameter. Demonstrates proficiency on inline welders if applicable, utilization of hand tools (micrometers, calipers, tape measure and feeler gages) to ensure set-up of jobs and part quality, and cutoff tooling replacements per documented instructions and procedures.
Champions Lean Manufacturing Principles:
Assures that Lean Manufacturing principles are expanded and adhered to throughout Knoll. Assures utilization of appropriate documentation and visual aids (standardized work, combination tables, kanban tickets, heijunka tags, etc.).
Assists in program launches.
Coordinates with Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Production to assure process capability, generic equipment design, and optimum work balancing ensured prior to program launches. Create documentation for new and existing roll form jobs regarding process and program parameters per documentation standards.
Assures integrity of manufacturing processes.
Assures the Integrity of manufacturing processes is maintained and improved after program launch by developing process checks/controls, and a method to trigger a response when the checks/controls indicate a deviation from established parameters.
Participates as a member of the Fabrication and Engineering Teams.
Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies. Coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Technical Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas of lack of cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues effecting cohesiveness. Actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.

Required Skills
Bachelor of Science or ME, MfgE, IE, Welding or related technical focus; or 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment in positions of increasing responsibility in rollforming/tooling.
Technical Experience:
Minimum 5 years of roll forming experience.
Industry Experience
: Minimum 3 years experience applying lean manufacturing principles.

Ability to utilize lean manufacturing principles and techniques.

Ability to troubleshoot, identify the root cause of, and develop and implement effective solutions to problems.
