Title: Production Engineer
SUMMARY
Provides technical support for designated projects and to specific production lines. This support includes new project planning, project coordination, working with inside & outside contractors, interdepartmental relations, project implementation as well as current production support in the areas of quality, safety, cost, and productivity as related to equipment, processes, and systems.
Job details require a high degree of hands-on work in weld controls
, robot teaching,
PLC troubleshooting and programming, jig tuning
, component assembly review, process confirmation, design aspects
of production lines, and updating of project and technical documents.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluate existing manufacturing systems and develop new systems as required to optimize production methods and efficiencies, machine utilization, component capacity, material flow, worker safety, environmental stewardship and product quality.
Provides technical assistance to production for work orders related to tooling and equipment
Sets weld conditions on all automatic processes, including maintenance of weld condition sheets.
Takes the lead to accomplish new project and engineering change implementations including creation of plan documents, part inspection standards, schedules, new equipment, tool/die design and procurement, trials, training, line layout/part flow, maintenance activities, and manpower.
Recognize and initiate cost reduction and manufacturing process improvement projects in order to reduce standard work, and to increase efficiencies.
Assist with the development and design of internal tooling drawings - CAD experience
Attends Quality Problem Report meetings and works with production, quality, and maintenance to identify and implement countermeasures.
Works closely with the plant's maintenance personnel on a daily basis, responds to trouble calls from the manufacturing area, and supports production and maintenance to help ensure smooth operation.
Performs programming, changes, debugging, and setting parameters to PLC & robotic programs plus programmable devices.
Identifies, creates, and implements plans to reduce down time and scrap plus improve quality, safety, and productivity in responsible zone.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree in mechanical, electrical, or manufacturing engineering preferred.
At least 2 years experience in manufacturing environment in related field, internships acceptable
Strong mechanical and electrical background.
