Business Unit Controller
Job Summary:
Leads and directs an organization's accounting functions. Establishes and maintains the organization's overall accounting systems, procedures, and policies. Reports to Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Responsibilities:
Directs all analysis and reporting of financial information including budgets, planning, and required filings and reports. Presents findings and recommendations to management.
Collects and complies financial data at the business unit level and overseas the preparation of forecasts, tax filings, financial, budget, auditing and other reports.
Ensures that the business unit complies with accounting regulations and standards and adheres to company policies and procedures.
Manages a business unit, division, or corporate function with major organizational impact.
Responsible for conception, execution & management of financial strategies.
Works with leadership team, as needed, to define success metrics.
Communicates key financial information to in-house and external teams.
Measures the effectiveness of business strategies and reports on campaign effectiveness and recommends adjustments as needed. Prepares reports and presentations to highlight campaign success and metrics.
Builds professional relationships with cross-functional partners and senior departmental leadership; ensures timely and effective communication regarding all programs.
Other responsibilities as instructed by the CEO.
Education & Experience
Requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. CPA preferred.
Business acumen and leadership experience to become a top function or division head.
5 years manufacturing industry experience in business unit controller role.
Skills & Abilities:
Ability to create persuasive and strategic objectives that directly supports business objectives.
Ability to listen to, understand, and communicate with others by telephone, in written form, electronically, or in person.
Analytical skills, with the ability to analyze and interpret data.
Ability to identify and seek needed information or conduct research.
Excellent organizational and planning skills, with the ability to adjust to shifting priorities.
Ability to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
Ability to apply sound judgement to produce appropriate outcomes in a variety of situations, including high volume and challenging situations.
Ability to schedule and plan assigned activities so that goals and priorities are achieved.
Encourage, build, and maintain mutual trust, respect, and cooperation with others, at all levels. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to operate a computer with relevant software applications.
