POSITION PROFILE
This is a 1st Shift position (hours are 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.)
Coordinate the work of a particular plant department to handle, process and produce a finished product. Package and ship product as directed. Assist department Supervisors and Assistant Supervisors in the manufacturing process/operation, ensuring all standards and specifications are met concerning quality and quantity of products manufactured and shipped to customers. Depending on the department a Forkift/Swing Reach and/or HiLo License Required.
Use a variety of tools and equipment.
A wide variety of materials, parts and components used.
Instruct personnel in the proper methods and techniques used in the manufacturing process and/or operation to ensure quality/quantity performance. Develop production sequence, direct department personnel to ensure schedule requirements are met.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Work from travel sheets and computer boards, specifications, sketches, established work procedures, and written and/or verbal instructions from the departmental Supervisor and Assistant Supervisors.
Make periodic checks to ensure that product manufactured is correct grades, finish, dimension, etc., in accordance with CTQ’s, specifications, drawings, standard practices or as instructed by supervision.
Responsible for the quality/quantity of production.
Maintain required records of production as established by department work procedures.
Expedite the completion of shortages and remakes for application against open orders.
Notify Supervisors and Assistant Supervisors of equipment malfunction, productivity losses, material shortages, or defective material and expedite rework where possible.
May build subassemblies or other prep work required to load the line.
Start up and set up equipment and machines and operate, as necessary, to perform manufacturing operations.
Process D.A./NCP material as required.
Stage materials to maintain an efficient flow through department.
Perform required preventative maintenance functions on all equipment and complete related documentation.
Provide restroom or break coverage for other line associates.
Assist, as needed, at the various positions on the line.
Assist in performing periodic quality line audits.
Maintain accurate, required production records, including, but not limited to, daily downtime reports and daily output performance.
Keep equipment and work area clean and organized.
May perform other tasks as assigned by the department supervisor.
Print UL labels.
Obtain needed packaging materials and hardware as required.
Review schedules and travel sheets to ensure all needed components and hardware are available to meet schedules. Requisition/Expedite as necessary
Identify reworked items or obtain materials from surplus to use as substitute. Locate and expedite shortages, as necessary.
Follow all safety policies and practices and wear protective equipment as required.
Performs all 5S housekeeping tasks in appropriate areas.
Works to ensure work area is maintained in a clean, orderly and safe condition at all times. Completes all regularly scheduled 5S checks. Immediately alerts Supervisors and team members of unsafe work conditions.
Participates as a member of the department team.
Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies. Coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the department team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas of lack of cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the Supervisors and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues effecting cohesiveness. Actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.

Required Skills
Technical Experience:
Will be required to cross train on critical departmental positions for coverage purposes; Must be able to work in a team environment and be part of the rotation of positions;
Industry Experience
Experience in a manufacturing environment required. Working knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques, principles, and tools preferred.

Demonstrated ability to lead and manage projects under minimal supervision and meet required deadlines.

Required Experience
A high school diploma or equivalent (GED), or work experience which demonstrates performance competency
